Vice President of Program

All Star Code is a nonprofit computer science education organization focused on motivated Black and Latino young men. Few organizations prepare this underserved group for careers in the innovation economy. Our ultimate goal is to close the wealth, income, and opportunity gaps.

The tech industry is the engine of innovation and job growth, yet only 1% of VC-backed startups have a Black or Latino person on the founding team. All Star Code creates economic opportunity by developing a new generation of entrepreneurs who have the tools they need to succeed in technology.

All Star Code seeks a Vice President of Program to bring All Star Code into its next stage of exponential growth and development. The VP of Program will sustain the success of existing programs while significantly expanding the reach of All Star Code in new cities and new opportunities within existing markets.

  • All Star Code Program Management and Oversight: Responsible for overall coordination and development of ASC’s programmatic strategy and goals with a specific focus on:
  • Design, delivery, evaluation, growth, and continuous improvement of the Summer Intensive
  • Development and implementation of the Alumni Program
  • Incubation and iteration of new and changing program elements
  • Program Team Management: Provide direct management, structure, and support to the broader program team.
  • Policy Development: Develop and coordinate a selective and focused policy framework that can demonstrate how ASC can be supportive of targeted policy efforts/initiatives that can advance its overall mission in support of opportunity creation for boys and young men of color (BYMOC)
  • Partnership Development: Coordinate strategic partnership opportunities with a limited number of national and NYC-based organizations that can help advance the mission of ASC and accelerate the organization’s impact
  • Thought Leadership: Serve as a voice for ASC in the education, technology, and entrepreneurship spaces

The VP operates as a transformative catalyst and orchestrator of tangible impact on the lives of BYMOC. They must be comfortable operating both collaboratively and independently, should be able to manage ambiguity and be a self-starter.  ASC is a five year old, high-growth start-up and operates in a lean and nimble fashion and requires its leaders to demonstrate strong self-management skills and a commitment to diligence and excellence.  The VP is critical to the success and impact of ASC and must be passionate about the organization’s mission and vision. They will also be responsible for helping ensure ASC’s future success through solid infrastructure and relationship building and therefore must have the ability to effectively anticipate needs, prioritize, and multi-task. Other qualifications include:

  • Content expertise and experience in two or more of following areas: program delivery, entrepreneurship, computer science, education, strategic partnerships, policy development, advocacy and social marketing (with a specific focus on behavior change)
  • Proven track record of successful program management including strategy, expansion, best practices implementation, and infrastructure development
